"Survivor" goes Natural!!

I don't really watch Survivor. There are just too many reality shows for me to keep up with, although I have enjoyed watching it in the past. As I was perusing Yahoo, I noticed pictures of the new cast and I THEN noticed the beautiful, "spoken word" poet, Semhar Tadesse.

We've got another natural on a CBS reality show. SCORE!

So go ahead and drool over her fluffy 'fro and watch her play "ditzy" on Survivor.

Did you know that Tiffany "New York" Pollard was natural?

I found out a year or so ago that she's natural. You just never know what's hiding underneath pounds of weave and lacefront wigs, but I have to say.....I like her more natural look. She actually looks good. I've never been a big fan of the too much hair and too much make up-look. Some folks can get away with it when done right(I think....lol), but I hope to see more of this look in the future because it really is becoming on her, and I'm not saying this because I'm partially biased.

She looks good. :)

What do you all think of her look?

I know I've given him his own post in the past, but.....

Jaden Smith deserves another.

This boy's hair is RIDIC!!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME!? LOL! And I love that Willow is rockin some cornrows, but yeah....back to Jaden. At one point in the past, I could get my hair to look like this. On a REALLY good day. But dare I say his hair is damn near perfection in fullness AND shape?

I need his stylist's number STAT!!!! LOL!

Did Laura follow in YaYa's footsteps?

--In terms of "maybe" permanently straightening her hair? I found a new pic of the naturally talented beauty today and while I'm accustomed to seeing Laura look like what's pictured below,

she showed up at the BET Rising Icons event showcasing a sleeker look.

Now, I will admit that she looks good. But I liked the more natural, less-done look that I'm used to. That's just my personal preference, although I do like to change up myself. :)

Anyway, I know it's her hair and every woman, natural or otherwise, has the right to style their hair however they see fit because it's only hair, right? But you know how protective many of us become when some of our favorite naturals change up on us! LOL!

So, do you like her new look?

Has Yaya said goodbye to her natural curls?

I'm sure you all have seen the pics of a newly straight-ish and coiffed Yaya DeCosta, who is starring in the soon to be released movie, "The Kids Are Alright" opposite Julianne Moore, Annette Benning, and Mark Ruffalo. While doing press for the movie, new pics of her smoother 'do have been circulating. Esquire mag also conducted an interview with discussing her other upcoming projects, with her rocking her newly straightened 'do.

Honestly, it would be hard for Yaya NOT to look beautiful. She just is. But I'm sure many of my fellow Naturalistas did a collective sigh when we saw these new pics. I hope she didn't permanently straighten her hair, but it is HER hair. And whatever her reasons are personal to her. But I won't lie. I hope it's just a good press(flat-iron) because I LOVE(D) her natural hair. I'll just continue to "lust" over her natural tresses and wait to see if the straight hair is a temporary thing. If not, all I'll have are these pics. lol

BET Awards......Natural Hair Edition

I didn't watch the BET Awards in its entirety, mostly because it coincided with my True Blood, but I did catch enough to see some of the fabulous natural hair!

First, we have the beautiful Esperanza Spalding. I wonder if her 'fro ever DOESN'T look on point. She was flawless last night.

The always funky and eclectic Janelle Monae with her natural pompadour and gorgeous skin.

And my favorite hair-celeb under 21 that gives me hair envy....Jaden Smith.

Naturally FaF- Esperanza Spalding

Chances are you've heard of her. If not, she's the exceptionally talented jazz singer/musician who not only attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music, but is the youngest person EVER in the institution's history to become(at the age of 20) an actual professor at the college. A prodigy of sorts.

She's also natural and she rocks her signature 'fro at all times.

Naturally beautiful and talented.....nothing more to add. I LOVE her album "Esperanza" and is one of the few I keep on constant rotation.

Check out some of her videos here and if you didn't know about her, thank me later. ;)
