A special note to the fathers out there

Photobucket

There is no other job greater or more important than being a parent, should you choose to have children. You're responsible for cultivating, molding, educating and nurturing the future leaders of our country. Leaders of our communities.

But you must be there.

Sure, there are exceptions to the rule, but let's be real. Having an active role and being a positive influence in the life or lives you've helped create can make a huge difference in the choices our children make and the directions they take later on in their lives.

This note is to those who do what they're expected to do, without praise. Being a great parent isn't glamorous, and oftentimes, you aren't acknowledged, but it's not about you. It's about those children.

It's not like the boss giving you praise for a job well done. You're being paid for that. This job is a lifelong endeavor that remains beyond retirement.

Continue being the great fathers, step-fathers, surrogate fathers and whatever role you've accepted, in the lives of those children. The future reward of your work and commitment will be shown in the children who then become adults and contribute positively to society.

We need more of this.

Happy Father's Day. :)
