Has Yaya said goodbye to her natural curls?
I'm sure you all have seen the pics of a newly straight-ish and coiffed Yaya DeCosta, who is starring in the soon to be released movie, "The Kids Are Alright" opposite Julianne Moore, Annette Benning, and Mark Ruffalo. While doing press for the movie, new pics of her smoother 'do have been circulating. Esquire mag also conducted an interview with discussing her other upcoming projects, with her rocking her newly straightened 'do.
Honestly, it would be hard for Yaya NOT to look beautiful. She just is. But I'm sure many of my fellow Naturalistas did a collective sigh when we saw these new pics. I hope she didn't permanently straighten her hair, but it is HER hair. And whatever her reasons are personal to her. But I won't lie. I hope it's just a good press(flat-iron) because I LOVE(D) her natural hair. I'll just continue to "lust" over her natural tresses and wait to see if the straight hair is a temporary thing. If not, all I'll have are these pics. lol

Its hard to tell the difference between a perm and a flat iron and I doubt that she would relax her hair.
It CAN be difficult to tell sometimes, but one thing I've learned is to never assume someone won't relax/texlax their hair.
Anything is possible and folks can surprise the HELL outta ya!
But witrh the straight hair whether it relaxed or straightened, she just kind of looks like everyone else
Interesting observation....which makes me wonder: If the majority of Black women wore their hair naturally, would WE just start looking like everyone else? And if so, would the reverse happen? An influx of ladies seeking to differentiate themselves from the crowd?
Hmmm.....
I hope she hasn't relaxed it too. And she does look like everyone else now.
I don't think we would all start to look alike if everyone was natural because our hair comes in so many different textures. But who knows...
